"The Envelope Series"
Collage and mix media.
This is a collage work series, that portrays different scenes of negative social phenomena in Mexico and voice these to the rest of the world.
I have made these four collages as a starting point for a large series of artwork, that I will be working on, that came out inspired by women trafficking, abductions, organized crime and "Narco" culture in Mexico. These four collages mimic these situations that are the result of an event created by people related to these. The negative effect ratio around these situations is really big, people that is affected by this negative social phenomena have started now to get accustomed to this, while at the same time they keep being surprised with new gruesome scenes of kidnappings, killings, executions and all sort of attacks that cartel's do to each other or the police, in which sometimes even innocent people get caught in between the crossed fire.
The idea of making these collages of something that everyone is aware of, so real and keeps on happening is to broaden the forums where these negative phenomena are being exposed and discussed, to raise awareness about all of what is not televised, not being brought to the news, that doesn't make it to the light for people to see, like little girls trafficking, enslaving, kidnappings, among other things, caused or being the result of the corrupt side of people, as well as to serve as a way to graphically document different scenes of these negative events.

Some of the inspiration and documentation came from books like "Los señores del narco" of Anabel Hernandez (Mexican reporter and writer), "Los demonios del eden" & "Memorias de una infamia" of Lydia Cacho (Mexican reporter, human rights activist, writer, feminist and speaker.
These are the first four collages that were inspired by different crime scenes, they were made on cardboard and envelopes of the infamous bank HSBC, using different media.
